AbstractTesting and evaluating students’ development and performance are essential components of the educational process. Different international schools in Libya use different testing methodologies and assess their students' development, strengths, and weaknesses in various ways. However, the precise methods of testing and evaluating employed by the elementary international schools in Libya, as well as how these methods may affect the students' performance, have not been explored in any previous research studies. This research aimed to investigate language testing and evaluation strategies in Libyan elementary international schools. The research’s objectives were accomplished by using a qualitative research design and a triangulation that included a questionnaire, interviews, and document analysis. The participants of the study were a selective sample of 30 English language teachers who teach at different international schools in Tripoli. They have taught students in grades ranging from one to six. The data collected from both the questionnaire and the interviews were coded manually through thematic analysis to build up codes, categories, and develop themes to be discussed to elicit the research conclusion. Moreover, document analysis was carried out in this research to provide further information regarding the structures and designs of tests utilized in Libyan elementary international schools. The findings of the study indicated that International elementary schools in Libya employ a specialized testing and evaluation system. The findings also showed that English language teachers use tests to measure the success of their teaching strategies and to monitor student progress.رقم القرار183المكان: قاعة المناقشات بكلية اللغات.
