Description

The PhD in Sociology program prepares graduates for careers as academic sociologists. Graduates are fully prepared to do research in sociology, publish articles or books, and present their material in professional settings. The curriculum is focused on the importance of combining a holistic understanding of the discipline with its research methods and critical debates. The program is divided into three stages: Completing the preparatory stage requirements by studying seven disciplines during two semesters, then passing the comprehensive exam. The final stage is the completion of a doctoral thesis on an original social issue related to the issues of Libyan society

Fourth: Preparing and qualifying experts to work in social institutions and international cooperation.

Fifth: Proposing national initiatives and presenting it through critical and creative thinking.

Sixth: breaking the monopoly of knowledge in the field of social studies by encouraging the movement of translation and authorship

Seventh: Contributing to the development of scientific research and creating an indispensable research base on the progress of the Libyan society

Conducting original research that shares scientific knowledge

Ability to use scientific and technical software for data analyses

The ability to collect data, analysis and classification methods in a highly professional manner

The ability to transfer scientific knowledge to others, and contribute to the dissemination of societal knowledge

Entry Reuirements

Obtaining a Master's degree in Sociology.

Employer approval for full-time or part-time study workers.

Submit an original copy of the transcript and the contents of all the courses that the applicant studied at the undergraduate and master’s levels.

Students are accepted according to the priority of their estimates in the first university degree.

The PhD in Sociology prepares students to qualify for PhD in Sociology. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.
