Our Arabic language is rich and expressive when it created a name with deep significance for this institution, which is (the university). The role of the contemporary university is not limited to providing traditional services such as education and scientific research only. It combines within its aspects all educational, research, service, cultural and intellectual activities. It also transcends these boundaries. To include interaction with society and the surrounding environment, and how much the university has been a destination for scholars, thinkers, researchers, and students of science, it also collects the nation’s heritage and the tools of its civilization. It is inconceivable that there would be a civilized society in which the university does not have an effective role, which made it have a high status and a pioneering and prominent role in modern societies. Without fully activating the university’s role in developing and building society, its role will remain limited, and from here the importance of the Office of Community Service and Environmental Development is highlighted, as it is one of the basic and important pillars of the university, alongside education and scientific research. The College of Education, University of Tripoli, has given great attention to community service and environmental development since the establishment of this office. The Office of Community Service and Environmental Development has contributed to several activities since the date of its inception, and we aim, God willing, to complete these achievements, and to set a new vision and goals that are in line with the changes on the international and Arab scene, and keep pace with the developments of modern societies. The university is a locomotive. Development in all countries, so the main goal of the office is to make the university a major actor that society cannot do without it and its role.
Vision
The aspiration is for the Office of Community Service and Environmental Development to become an active and efficient entity in the fields of environmental development, local community service, and creating a distinct internal and external environment, through developing strategies and mechanisms for the role of the College of Education in serving the community, meeting the needs of the beneficiaries, and contributing to solving its problems.
Mission
The mission of the Community Service Office at the College of Education The Community Service Office aims to form partnerships with community and international institutions concerned with environmental development and community service in order to solve societal problems and develop human skills among all members of the external community in all its categories. This mission is achieved through three axes: A - The educational axis: • Participating in training faculty members, their assistants, and administrative staff on modern technology skills to raise their job efficiency • Preparing an educational graduate in different specific specializations (art education - music education - educational technology - the educational world, journalism and theater • conducting educational convoys to a number of schools, nurseries, and associations The local community in some remote cities and villages • Holding artistic exhibitions in some units affiliated with the college and governmental and private bodies and departments within the municipality of Tripoli • Organizing seminars and conferences at intervals to address the political, economic, social, cultural and scientific issues presented on the scene • Issuing the college’s youth newspaper, which addresses various topics in various sections. The college contributes to community service and environmental development through the Public Service Center, from which several units of a special nature and blood donation campaigns branch out. C- The social axis: Preparing awareness programs for members of the university and external community in all its categories, specific to topics Positive participation in the electoral processes • Preparing awareness programs for members of society, especially values and their role in personality development • Preparing awareness programs for members of society to address contemporary issues raised on the scene • Preparing awareness programs for members of society to participate in reducing drug addiction • Strengthening the idea of social solidarity, such as organizing celebrations Orphan Day, holding supportive exhibitions for students who are unable, supporting people with special needs, and introducing them into society. • Participating in dealing with youth problems such as smoking, unemployment, etc., and providing them with psychological and educational consultations. • Striving to establish a nursery at the college to serve the children of faculty members, their assistants, and college workers. • Contributing to beautifying the surrounding environment by decorating the streets and squares of the city with murals, sculptural models, ceramic pieces, artistic paintings, photography works, and others. • Holding a forum to employ college graduates in the presence of factory and school owners, companies, and businessmen.
Objectives
The basic objectives of the Community Service and Environmental Development Unit:1. Preparing awareness programs for members of the university community in all its categories, including faculty members, student support staff members, administrators, technicians, and workers, and the goals of the Community Service and Environmental Development Unit that include them and benefit them, through holding seminars and lectures in all university colleges and units, in which all community members participate. University.2. Preparing programs to educate individuals in the external community and the surrounding environment about the role and objectives of the community service and environmental development sector in the college, which includes them and benefits them.3. Organizing educational technical convoys for some associations and civil society institutions in governorates and municipalities and some nurseries, schools, orphanages and the elderly. 4. Strengthening the ties between the college community, the surrounding environment, and civil society sectors through (external seminars and lectures) outside the college (external exhibitions)5. Beautifying main roads and squares with murals and ceramic pieces in coordination with governorates and municipalities. 6. Holding conferences that deal with social and developmental issues that serve many sectors of Libyan society. All departments of the college participate in this conference, in addition to participants from other universities.7. Holding several interviews with city centers affiliated with the municipality to identify the most important problems for the purpose of contributing, even if only in a small way, to solving them.8. Seriously activating the units of a special nature that already exist and creating units that meet the needs of members of the external community. 9. Developing environmental awareness inside and outside the college and organizing conferences to reduce pollution10. Concluding cooperation agreements with associations caring for people with special needs, civil society organizations, and local community development organizations, and organizing camps to serve and beautify the environment.11. Dealing with the problems of children at risk.12.
