Preparatory Meeting with the High National Elections Commission
The first preparatory meeting between the Commission and the Faculty of Arts and Information at the University of Tripoli was held Thursday morning at the headquarters of the General Directorate of the Higher National Elections Commission, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two parties and to enhance the role of the academic media institutions as an active partner in future events.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulkarim Kinder, Dean of the College, Dr. Naimi Al Sayeh, a faculty member, Dr. Khalid Ghulam, Director of the Media Lab, and Mr. Ramzi Abuketif, Head of Public Relations Division, Media Department.
The Director-General, Mr. Saeed Al-Qasabi, praised the role of the Faculty of Arts and Media in its academic expertise and technical resources in building electoral awareness and welcomed any proposals that would establish an effective partnership to serve the path of stability and nation-building.
Ms. Aisha Thabout, who is in charge of the communication within the Faculty of Arts and Media, explained that this meeting is intended to present a set of practical ideas for establishing a long term strategic plan aimed at graduating generations of media professionals with accumulated knowledge and practical experience to deal with electoral issues. In addition, the meeting dealt with a short-term action plan to raise the level of student participation in any future electoral entitlement.
For his part, the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Media presented the vision of the faculty in supporting the electoral process and how to enhance it, creating a positive atmosphere towards participation. He stressed that the stage requires everyone to carry out their historic responsibilities towards the homeland and future generations.
The head of the media laboratory at the college said that the lab will provide the platform for students to be trained on journalism, radio and television activities oriented to electoral field, as well as reviewing the mechanisms and methodologies of training provided by the laboratory to media cadres.
